The DOMO ACHENZA Guesthouse in Terralba has six en-suite rooms and a beautiful well equipped kitchen that allows us to prepare delicious Sardinian, Italian and sometimes international dishes for our guests.
The structure, however, has not always been this, indeed in recent years “ouch us!” it has been totally abandoned.
But let’s go in order.
The house was built around 1935 by the Achenza family, from which the business takes its name, and who are among other things our direct ancestors.
In the first years of construction, as it is easy to imagine, the Achenza family lived here, then the house passed to the heirs who lived and used it in alternating phases.
I myself, Gabriele, lived in this house when I was a child until I was two years old before moving to Rome and I must confess that seeing it reborn is still a great emotion.
In the following years the property has seen several renters, who have occupied the property at times without too much consideration of it in my opinion.
In the 2000s, the structure was completely abandoned to itself, becoming the living room for pigeons, cats, mice and I don’t know which other animal had decided to put the tends inside the house.
So it was decided to put it up for sale, but after a few unsuccessful attempts, never too convinced for the truth, the decision was the only possible one: to take it back in hand and revive it.
So in 2020 the heavy and massive renovations began (as well as very expensive!) to restore the structure to its former glory and indeed make it even more beautiful and comfortable by adding bathrooms, air conditioning, new electrical and plumbing systems, a new kitchen and much more.
Now the Domo Achenza can be presented to the public with a totally renewed, bright and sober look, simple but captivating, not luxurious but classy.
To all this, as anticipated, we add our great passion for cooking that proposes our guests dishes that are always tasty and beautiful to look at.
